Shore experiences include kayaking, hiking, lobster fishing, and glass-bottom boat tours. According to the marketing association Cruise the Great Lakes, nine ships are on the lakes this year, which marks a return after no cruises at all in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. The number of passengers in 2022 has increased by more than 25 percent compared to 2019, the association reports. Our category G rooms are a spacious retreat with all the amenities a modern traveler expects. Each room offers 275 square feet of space encompassing a full-size bathroom, a large opening picture window, and a private balcony. Look over Niagara Falls

The Jewel of the Great Lakes has been a summer getaway for Midwesterners since the Victorian era and it retains much of its Victorian-era charm. The iconic attraction on the island is the 135-year-old Grand Hotel, with its seemingly endless, rocker-lined front porch (the longest in the world). Afternoon tea in the hotel's parlor, or a game of croquet at its Tea Garden, are among Mackinac Island's allures.

With its nearly one hundred historical buildings, the Village demonstrates how Americans lived and worked since the founding of the country. Many of the buildings, from the 17th century to the present, are staffed by costumed interpreters who conduct period tasks like farming, sewing, and cooking. A collection of craft buildings such as pottery, glass-blowing, and tin shops provide demonstrations while producing materials used in the Village and for sale. Great Lakes cruises might all seem similar, but with an offer that ranges from Niagara Falls to historic, cultural and big-city ports, there’s plenty to choose from. Regardless of the route taken, chances are high that stops on these itineraries are places you've never thought of as being cruise ports -- and you'll be quite impressed with your findings. One thing that all three of the main lines operating in the Great Lakes have in common is that they include tours during at least some stops and sometimes every stop in their base fares.

Cruise vessels that operate in the Great Lakes can't access the region until the locks on the St. Lawrence Seaway open for the summer, something that typically happens the last week of March. They need to be out of the Great Lakes before the St. Lawrence Seaway closes for the winter (typically in December). The Great Lakes region may not be a bucket list destination on the scale of Alaska or Antarctica. Here, The Points Guy offers up a guide to everything you need to know about planning a sailing in the Great Lakes. One issues with Great Lakes is that there are not many ports large enough, that passenger can got on land by walking a gangplank.

Stop at Eyaawing Museum & Cultural Center to learn the story of the Grand Traverse Band of Anishinaabek, led by a native guide. Enjoy a guided exploration of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse, a restored keeper’s dwelling, and climb the Lighthouse Tower for a spectacular view of Lake Michigan, Cathead Bay, Grand Traverse Bay and the Manitou Passage. Travel through Leelanau State Park on your way to Fishtown-Leland, featuring weathered fishing shanties, smokehouses, overhanging docks, fish tugs and charter boats.

Cozumel Cruise Port Guide

cozumel beaches near cruise port

Sign up for a chocolate workshop to learn the ancient Mayan ways; stand up paddle board; feed tropical bird species; and, watch a hermit crab race, too. It’s an undersea enthusiast’s dream, with great snorkeling right off the beach. For a quieter and more serene beach experience, consider heading to the eastern side of the island and visiting Playa San Martin. Swimming in Cozumel is generally considered safe, especially in areas with designated swimming spots.

While it’s advertised as public, there have been reports of an admission fee for entry. Most people visiting this beach stay at the San Francisco Beach Club, where you’re sure to have a great time with options to rent jet skis, wave runners, or kayaks. Plus, there are fun activities for kids, such as water trampolines and slides. The Money Bar Beach Club is only a short drive from Cozumel’s ports. The beach itself is quite rocky, so you will have to use steps to access the water.

Things to Do in Cozumel on a Cruise Day in Port

Fee-based activities include parasailing, snorkel tours, and jet skis. As for the beach, there is a purpose-built sandy beach with loungers and umbrellas, but in this part of the island the shoreline is rocky. So if you want to get in the water (there’s fantastic snorkeling in this area), you do so via a set of stairs.

Beach Day-Passes near Cozumel Cruise Port: Review (

There are much better options if hoping for long walks on the beach. In short, if you’re waiting a full-fledge beach day with all the extras, then Playa Mia is a good option only about 15 minutes from the cruise ships. Chankannab is close to the cruise port and is about a $15 taxi ride to and from the beach.

Punta Sur Eco Beach Park

Beach clubs are a dime a dozen on Cozumel, but Buccanos stands out in the best way. Located in the North Hotel Zone, it's centrally located with a sandy beach and laid-back vibe. By night, Buccanos puts on a spectacular sunset dinner experience.

Mr. Sanchos (7 miles)

What’s the number one thing you should do when visiting Cozumel? If you’re looking to enjoy a full beach/pool day, there are a ton of beach clubs from which to choose. The International Pier is three miles south, and then Puerta Maya is the furthest outside of town, nearly five miles away.

Holland & America cruise ships usually dock at Punta Langosta, but other ships may also use this terminal on occasion. Cozumel offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and exciting activities, making it an ideal stop for any Caribbean cruise itinerary. At the southernmost tip of Cozumel Island, there’s a lighthouse called Faro Celerain. These activities, as well as the use of hammocks and beach loungers, are included in the price of admission. There’s a beach for everyone at Cozumel, whether you’re keen on active water sports, exploring local culture and cuisine, or simply unwinding.

Playa Mia Beach & Water Park

Cozumel is an incredible island with tons of unique and interesting activities and places to explore. Located right next to the Punta Langosta cruise port, you’ll find all of the souvenirs you need. The private island of Isla Pasión is located at the north end of Cozumel, reachable by boat. Tours to this secluded beach are offered by all the cruise lines. Also included with your entrance fee is access for snorkeling in the nearby Chankanaab Eco Park.

Activities at Paradise Beach Club

Visitors should note that there is an admission fee to enter the park, which varies depending on the activities and amenities they wish to access. Book a ferry ride from the terminal for a 15-minute trip to this exclusive destination. Or, take a jeep ride through Dwarf Jungle to Blind Lagoon to board a boat to the island. Other options to reach the island include catamarans or twister speedboats – all available from the cruise port.

Food at Nachi is served restaurant style rather than buffet, though you may order whatever you like and as much as you want. Interestingly, there are prices on the menu — but ignore those, as the day rate is inclusive of the food. There are lots of Mexican favorites available, along with more American foods too.

Other popular activities at the park include swimming in the crystal-clear waters, lounging on the beach, and relaxing in the shade of a palapa or hammock. For an additional fee, visitors can also swim with dolphins, manatees, or sea lions, or enjoy a spa treatment. Overall, the beaches near the Cozumel Cruise Port offer something for everyone, from calm waters and white sandy Cozumel beaches to crystal clear waters and beautiful coral reefs. Whether you are looking for a peaceful escape or an adventure-filled day, Cozumel has it all.

Cozumel has its own airport, with some airline providers even flying directly to the island. If your activities are spread out across Cozumel and you’re not arriving at Punta Langosta, driving around the island is probably the best option. The only walkable area of Cozumel is San Miguel, which is where most of the island’s shopping, eating, and activities are located.

Take note, even though signs repeatedly warm customers that tipping is not allowed, staff will request gratuity at the end of your day, so be prepared with some dollars. One of the more popular attractions is the underwater "Mayan city," a replica of a submerged lost city. Snorkelers love to get lost among the "ruins," which pay tribute to Cozumel's Mayan heritage. If you're looking for more full-service, check into Buccanos Beach Club, which has its own pool, restaurant, and lounge space.

You won't need a boat or a guide to explore the treasures offshore here. The reef is accessible directly from the beach - but make sure to wear water shoes to avoid stepping on sharp rocks. A small beach club is available, which has beach loungers and some refreshments for sale. There's even a pool should you feel the need for a refreshing dip. The best way to make the most of your time is to rent a motor scooter for the day, load up a backpack, and beach hop your way along the coastal circuit.

Just a five-minute taxi ride from the cruise piers, Money Bar Beach Club is a great option if looking for something close by. The spot features a full-service restaurant, bar, live music, and spa, all sitting right alongside the water. On the eastern side of the island is where you’ll find more of the classic stretches of uninterrupted sand. However, there isn’t as much commercial activity on the east side of Cozumel.

All these beaches are fairly close to each other and are on the same side of Cozumel. Most of these leave from the cruise port, though not all do so it is best to consult the website. Snorkeling is popular at this particular beach, and plenty of shops are available from which to rent snorkel equipment.

Princess Cruises Drink Packages: The Ultimate Guide

princess cruise beverage package

The Princess Cruises Plus Beverage Package is priced at $64.99 per person, per day plus an additional 18% gratuity. There are a few basic things you need to know about the Princess Cruises drink packages before we dive into the details of each option. Most cruise lines require that if one person has a drink package, then everybody in the cabin must have one. MSC Cruises even makes kids aged three and over get a kids package, if the parents want a drink package. There are zero benefits to just buying the drinks packages on their own.

Princess Premier Package

Both the Princess Plus fare and the Princess Premier fare are $15-20 per day cheaper than just getting the drink package, when you include the service charge costs of the drinks packages. This Classic Soda Package is best for non-coffee drinkers and is the simplest of Princess’ drink packages. It includes all fountain sodas, fruit juices, mocktails and smoothies. Non-alcoholic drinks are unlimited with Princess’ beverage packages, and they don’t count toward the 15-drink daily limit. Wide selection of non-alcoholic soft drinks and premium Lavazza coffees.

Complete Guide to Princess Cruises Drink Packages

If you wish to bring alcohol on board, Princess allows one bottle of wine or champagne (750mL in volume or less) per guest of legal drinking age, which must be presented to security during embarkation. A $20 corkage fee applies if guests wish to consume said bottle in the ship's public areas. We added new fixed price casual dining meals and OceanNow® delivery and room service for both!

Casual Dining

You will be receiving a complimentary Medallion device and lanyard as part of your cruise experience. For any guests with a Plus or Premier package, you may order these items delivered to your home (for U.S. guests only) for no extra shipping fees. If you do not have the package, you pay a $10 flat fee to have these delivered to your home.

You can also purchase handcrafted ice cream sandwiches, iced coffees and frappĆ©s at Coffee & Cones. It’s the “Best Pizza at Sea” says USA TODAY and we couldn’t agree more. Harkening back to our Italian heritage, our Neapolitan-style pizza is hand-tossed and freshly baked right on deck.

Can I continue to order housekeeping items like ice buckets or bathrobes with no charge? The same is true for housekeeping items ordered either by telephone or through your stateroom steward. For guests on a standard Princess Package, housekeeping items ordered using OceanNow will incur the one-time $14.99 OceanNow delivery access fee.

You can choose from all-inclusive packages that cover almost anything you’d like to drink, or one of two non-alcoholic options. One soft drink package covers the basics, and another also includes specialty coffees and teas. For those with a serious fountain or canned soda habit who don't dabble in fancy coffees or crave bottled water, the Classic Soda Package delivers much-needed refreshment. Beyond the unlimited sodas, this package includes canned fruit juices (excluding the fresh juice bar), mocktails and smoothies.

Eats That Are Included

How does the ship know that my package option includes crew appreciation? Guests who are Platinum and Elite receive 50% off MedallionNet Wi-Fi as a loyalty benefit. With Princess Plus, MedallionNet single-device Wi-Fi is provided as a promotional bundle included in the price of the fare. There is no additional discount for Platinum and Elite guests for the Wi-Fi package. However, Platinum and Elite guests will automatically receive a 50% discount if they decide to upgrade to a four-device package on board.

princess cruise beverage package

What’s not included?

The lower tier Princess Plus Beverage Package costs $64.99 per person, per day starting February 2023. There is an additional 18% gratuity charge tacked onto this amount. Over the course of a 7-day cruise, the total would come to $536.82. Essentially, if you want to purchase an alcoholic drink package, it’s a no-brainer to upgrade.

When you purchase a beverage package on Princess, you’ll pre-pay your gratuities (18% of the package total). Another option is to upgrade to Princess Plus or Princess Premier when you book your cruise. These are more expensive fares, but include either the Plus or Premier Beverage Package plus extra perks like unlimited Wi-Fi and crew gratuities. Here’s everything you need to know about Princess Cruises drink packages to help you make that decision. Are Princess Plus and Princess Premier available for all stateroom types? Both Princess Plus and Princess Premier are available to ALL guests and ALL stateroom types.

All major cruise lines will let you buy drinks on an a la carte basis when cruising. You don't need a drink package to be able to drink alcoholic beverages or any other type of beverage on a ship. Cruise ship drink packages let you order as many drinks as you want while on a cruise for one flat fee. You will be required to pay an 18% service charge when you purchase the package.

From traditional margherita and pepperoni to the daily specials, you’ll find it nearly impossible to pass by without grabbing a slice – or two. Book your dream Princess Cruises’ getaway with Iglu Cruise today and enjoy a truly unforgettable experience, whether you opt for an itinerary that sails across North America, the Mediterranean or beyond. Discover our variety of Princess Cruises’ deals and look forward to a holiday of a lifetime. In the last few years, Princess has had promotions a couple of times a year in which the Premium Beverage Package has been offered as a perk. See below for an explanation of Princess Plus – a great option for many cruisers.

Some cruisers opt to pay as they go, but there’s also the option of buying a drinks package that covers your drinks for the entire cruise. You’re probably wondering if it’s smarter to pay for your drinks individually or to spring for one of the Princess beverage packages. After that cutoff, it will be too late to take advantage of these packages. The photo package includes all digital photos of all guests in a stateroom from their voyage, including 3rd and 4th guests. The package also includes three physical prints of up to 8x10 size per guest and can be redeemed on board at the Photo Gallery. Digital photos are available for download through the app or may be transferred to a USB device on board at the Photo Gallery before disembarkation.

As is customary with all cruise ships regardless of which cruise line, age restrictions will apply for the purchase of any beverage package. In addition to unlimited drinks, the Premier Drink Package offers extra perks, such as access to the exclusive Premier Lounge and priority service at the bars. These benefits further enhance the overall cruising experience for those who opt for this package. Unlike the Plus Drink Package, the Premier Drink Package allows unlimited consumption of beverages without any dollar limits per drink. This means you can indulge in your favorite high-end drinks or explore new and exclusive options throughout your cruise without any additional charges.

That said, you generally do not need to bring your physical passport as you exit the ship at a port of call. That is because you have already registered with the ship, and they will present this information to any customs agents on your behalf. Another option for a cruise passenger is to keep their passport card on them while storing their passport book in their cabin safe. In either scenario, you must still bring your passport when boarding the ship. If you are unsure about the meaning, ports of call are temporary stops in various ports.

Visa Requirements for Martinique

Anyone who requires a visa for Indonesia and does not have one will be denied boarding on embarkation day. On embarkation day before boarding the ship, all guests must pass through a U.S. Customs and Border Protection immigration inspection inside the cruise terminal. Failure to provide accurate passport and travel documentation information at online check-in, could result in denial of boarding.

In general, it is preferable to have a passport with you — especially in the event you need emergency medical care and have to stay in a foreign country, for example. If you board in Miami, make a few ports of call, sail through the Panama Canal and end in San Diego, you’ll need to bring your passport.

By taking the handling of your luggage out of the equation you will proceed much quicker through the check-in process and save a considerable amount of time. At the end of your cruise, you will be able to retrieve a final statement from Navigator, and your card will be charged only for the actual amount of your purchases. Refunds for purchases of onboard products and services will be credited to your onboard account whether purchased prior to or during your cruise.

Additionally, if an unforeseen situation arises where guests have to take a flight to or from the U.S. during their cruise, not possessing a valid passport book could result in substantial delays and challenges. Keep in mind that cruise passport requirements can change based on shore excursions, too. For example, any time you cross a land or sea border into a foreign country, you’ll need a passport, whether it's riding Alaska's White Pass and Yukon Railway or taking day trips to smaller Caribbean islands.
